Touring exhibition on Macao’s success under ‘One country, two systems’ to open in Portugal
MACAU, October 8 - The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government is the organiser of a touring exhibition in Europe themed “Macao’s Success in Realising ‘One Country, Two Systems’”. The touring exhibition is visiting Portugal, Spain, Belgium, and Switzerland. The Portugal leg of the exhibition will be staged from 12 to 22 October.
The touring exhibition in Europe follows the visit to Portugal in April by the Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, when the MSAR Government successfully held a presentation session regarding “Macao’s Success in Realising ‘One Country, Two Systems’ – Passing on the Legacy of China-Portugal Friendship and Opening a New Chapter for the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ Principle”.
The touring exhibition aims to showcase comprehensively Macao’s remarkable achievements under the “One country, two systems” framework since its return to the motherland. The exhibition also aims to tell China’s story and Macao’s story, further traditional friendships, and promote exchanges and cooperation in diverse fields with Portugal and other European countries.
Portugal is the first country to host the touring exhibition, which will be shown at three locations: Universidade de Leiria e Oeste, in Leiria; Universidade de Coimbra, in Coimbra; and Universidade do Algarve, in the Algarve region.
The exhibition has six themed sections. The first is “Preface”; and the second is “‘One Country, Two Systems’ – The Foundation of Prosperity and Stability of the Macao Special Administrative Region”. The third themed section is “Macao – A Bridge for Openness to the World and a Conduit for Exchanges and Mutual Learning between Civilisations”. The fourth is “The Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin – A New Horizon for Macao’s Development”. The fifth section of the exhibition is “Maintaining Social Harmony and Stability to Realise Better Lives”; and the sixth is “Conclusion”.
The Portugal leg of the exhibition is presented in Chinese and Portuguese, and features comprehensive textual information and over 100 photographs, detailing Macao’s historical journey while highlighting its present development and envisioning its future. The exhibition focuses on the political, economic, social and livelihood-related achievements made by the MSAR since its establishment under the guidance of the “One country, two systems” principle.
In addition to visual and textual displays, the exhibition includes a series of video presentations. They cover topics including in-depth interviews with key figures who have witnessed Macao’s return to the motherland and development, as well as stories illustrating deep China-Portugal exchanges in education, culture and tourism. Also presented is the latest promotional video on the Third Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the MSAR.
