US says resolving Ukraine’s conflict needs time
Last Friday, US President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska for the first direct talks between the two leaders since the escalation of hostilities in February 2022. On Monday, Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House to explore a potential settlement, with Zelensky accompanied by leaders from France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Finland, as well as the heads of NATO and the European Commission.
Crowley described the discussions in Anchorage and Washington as “very productive meeting[s]” that have “been game changers for the peace process,” according to reports.
She added that, at present, “all parties are interested in achieving peace.”
